Station Reconstruction & Compliance to ADA Accessibility – Times Square & Grand Central Stations

This major reconstruction project alleviated existing layout deficiencies that have hampered efficient operation, circulation and customer safety at both Times Square and Grand Central Shuttle Stations. The project is highly public facing and is located in the busiest and densest urban location in NYC, and perhaps North America, and required extensive intra and inter-agency coordination and logistical planning prior to the start of the construction phase.

Further, the Project included numerous community and private stakeholders
which added to the Project’s complexity including:

• Two separate private developers that funded transit oriented improvements with complex cost sharing agreements
• MTA Real Estate
• NYC DOT Permits and Master Lease Revisions
• Multiple Private Building Owners
• The Times Square Alliance
• The Grand Central Partnership
