Linden Landfill Closure & Solar Redevelopment Project
Project Features:
- Conversion of a properly closed municipal landfill into a renewable energy asset
- Utilized NJ BPU Community Solar Energy Pilot Program incentives and Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs)
- Installation of a ballast-mounted solar photovoltaic system on a capped landfill
- Total renewable energy generation capacity of approximately 5 MW
- Adaptive reuse of a 55-acre landfill site adjacent to the Rahway River
- Integration of renewable energy infrastructure with ongoing landfill closure and post-closure requirements
- Supports municipal sustainability goals while maintaining environmental compliance
- Long-term engineering oversight ensures continued regulatory and operational performance
Services Provided:
- Landfill closure and post-closure engineering services
- Quality Assurance (QA) for landfill capping, stormwater management, and passive landfill gas systems
- Design of active landfill gas extraction and control systems
- Preparation of construction documents and technical specifications
- Preparation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and contract documents for renewable solar energy project
- Bid administration, procurement support, and contractor oversight
- Construction administration and inspection for landfill solar installation
- Preparation and negotiation of Title V Air Permits with NJDEP and USEPA
- Engineering support for landfill gas utilization and renewable energy feasibility
